1987 - 1998
Austin has a special place in my heart and memory. Arriving in the capital of Texas was a refreshing experience after being raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. The negative experiences from  being the only Asian-American person throughout my K-12 public education left me with a sense of social anxiety. I saw being a college freshman in a city where I didn't know one single person as a potentially liberating moment. It was easy leaving behind the emotional baggage and develop pathways for developing healthy relationships.
