Besides my part-time job at Deck the Walls, I had some free time after college. I made an appointment with Ben Davis, the art director at The Austin Chronicle, to seek freelance photography work. My first commission was documenting the new recycling facility on the outskirts of the city.

I became a regular contributor for the publication for six years. My time with The Austin Chronicle was instrumental in my personal and artistic development, offering an exploration of culture and society beyond my Arkansas upbringing. The exposure and access to people in the arts and culture industry pushed my boundaries in meaningful ways.
